Kashid Beach

An hours drive from Alibaug, Shreyas Guest House is a great place to stay to explore this part of Konkan. Kashid beach and the water sports facilities available at the beach is the primary attraction of the region.




Birla Mandir

Shreyas Guest House is flanked by some very revered temples. The Birla Temple located in Salaav is probably the most visited temple in the region. Kashid is flanked by the Rameshwar temple in Revdanda to its north and the Siddhivinayak temple in Nandgaon to its south..




Murud Fort

Janjira Fort or the Janjira Jal-durg is one of the most impressive structures located in the Indian state of Maharashtra built in 17 th Century. This amazing structure was built by Malik Ambar, who was an Abssinian minister in the court of the Sultan of Ahmednagar. The fort stands with an impressive height of 40 feet and is bounded by high walls on all sides.Inside the Janjira Fort, you can see the water tanks, beautiful tombs and stone sculptures. At the gate, the sculpture of six elephants by a tiger is very impressive.


Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary

Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife refuge in the Murud and Roha talukas of Raigad district, Maharashtra state, India. It was created in 1986 to preserve some of the coastal woodland ecosystem of the Western Ghats and consists of 6979 hectares of forest, grasslands and wetlands. The area was once part of the hunting reserves of the princely state of Murud-Janjira. It is located some 140 km from Mumbai. There are four main trails through the sanctuary that take in the main waterholes, Gunyacha Maal, Chikhalgaan and Phansadgaan, that are some of the best places to see wildlife.


Nawab’s Palace

The Nawab Palace, also known as Ahmedganj Palace, was constructed in 1885. The palace is owned by the descendants of the Nawabs and depicts Gothic and Mughal architectural styles. It covers an area of about 45 acres and has a beautiful mosque and tombs within its premises.The Arabian Sea and the Murud village can be seen from the palace, constructed on the edge of the cliff. Auto-rickshaws, taxis and private buses are available to reach the Nawab Palace.


Garambi Dam

Garambi Dam, is built by Nawab Sir Siddi Ahmed Khan, the last ruler of the east while Siddi reign. This dam is dedicated to Queen Victoria’s memory and so it has gained the popular appeal of Victoria Jubilee Water Works. The dam is situated on the backdrop of lush vegetation. The chirping of birds, sweet sound of the gushing water and all around greenery, the nature surrounds the dam is at its very best. Truly the dam site is a scenic valley to be visited.


Nandgaon Siddhivinayak Temple

Siddhi Vinayaka temple is situated at Nandgaon between Kashid and Murud about 10 kms before Murud. A Lotus farm at the distance of 6 kms is also situated near the temple.



Kolrai Fort

This castle was commanded to be built by the Viceroy of India Dom Filipe Mascarenhas in November of the year 1646 and Fernão Miranda Henriques being Captain of Chaul, and was finished in May 1680, Cristóvão de Abreu de Azevedo being Captain of this fort.




Temple Of Lord Datta, Murud

Datta Mandir, situated on top of a hill, is a red-domed temple. Constructed by Swami Bramhendra, the temple has a three-headed statue of Shri Dutta. The three-headed idol represents the trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara.


Khokri Tombs

The largest is the tomb of Sidi Surul Khan, who was chief of Janjira from 1707 to 1734. One of the two smaller tombs is that of Sidi Kasim, commonly known as Yakut Khan, who was in command of Janjira (1670–1677), of the Mugal fleet (1677–1696), and again of Janjira (1696–1707).



Kude Caves

A small village Kuda, famous for the Buddhist caves, is placed at the fabulous Janjeera hills near Kolad at a height of 150 to 200 feet above the sea level. These rock cut caves are classic example of Buddhist cave art and amazing for their architectural excellence. These caves have two levels and the individual blocks are smaller and are on the upper levels. The inscriptions on the caves are the preaching of Buddha and his disciples. The interiors of the caves are carved with stupas and a rock carved image of an elephant as the janitor is inscribed on the front gate of the caves.


Kasa Fort

Padmadurg or Kasa fort built by Sambhaji maharaj to aide in attacking Murud Janjira is located further ahead in the sea from Murud Janjira and can be visited with the help of local boatmen. Padmadurg fort is in ruins and is very rarely visited, as of now only the local fishermen and the youth in Murud Janjira access this fort. Padmadurg doesn't have a proper place to dock the boat and one should be careful while getting on and off the boat at Padmadurg.
